We are excited to announce that Gildrien Farm is going solar! We're partnering with Suncommon to put in a Community Solar Array – about an acre of panels that will provide electricity for up to 30 households. This decision is really in line with the heart of our values: to do what we can to make this world better for our community and our kids.
There are some drawbacks to solar, of course, including questions about the best way to decommission them at the end of their useful life, and potential disruption of the bucolic view. However, we believe that energy production is a sensible part of the working landscape, and that waiting for a perfect source of energy (safe, efficient, reliable, renewable, non-polluting, non-destructive, and aesthetically pleasing) is a luxury we don't have. So, we are proud to be working towards a decentralized, renewable energy future.
